SharePoint professionals as well as IT directors & directors keep expressing their enterprises about SharePoint’s state in the future, and whether or not Microsoft plans on discontinuing it anytime soon. So, being a SharePoint/ Microsoft 365 ( formerly Office 365) adviser myself, I decided to find out if these enterprises were warranted, and why other SharePoint professionals keep having them in the first place. Is SharePoint dying or still getting popular? and will it be discontinued soon? The short answer: There's no threat of SharePoint dying anytime soon, since it's gaining further fashionability as an essential part of the mongrel results (on- demesne and in the pall) that Microsoft’s vision for the unborn relies on. As of what urged those enterprises about its future in the first place, I plant that they substantially stem from bad messaging from Microsoft back in 2014 that was addressed/ corrected since also, and from some expert SP inventors and admins who now have to add Azure/ Office365 administration, the SPFx/ JavaScript new development model as well as new services similar as PowerApps, MS Flow, OD4B & MS Brigades to their formerly large and complex skill- set. SharePoint * is still taking over the world! (* with a many caveats) First, let me assure you that you can safely put to rest any enterprises you may have about SharePoint’s future, since Microsoft touts that further than 85 of Fortune 500 companies, and 190 million druggies across500.000 associations use SharePoint for their intranets, platoon spots and content/ business process operation. Also, the relinquishment of SharePoint has been exploding these last couple of times driven by the wild growth of the Microsoft 365 Suite ( formerly Office 365)-that includes SharePoint Online. Office 365 abdications dominating a stagnating G- Suite So if SharePoint is doing so well, why do so numerous people feel as if it's fading or being phased out by Microsoft? The answer is that SharePoint is no longer the sole star of the show. SharePoint Garçon endured inconceivable hype and amazing relinquishment rates from 2006 onward and has been a recognizable name brand of a standalone result. Still since 2014, the product had substantially come part of a larger ecosystem Microsoft 365, which offers far further capability than SharePoint- Garçon alone could ever have. Companies now use SharePoint under one of 3 paradigms As a 100 on- demesne result (the old way with SharePoint Garçon) As a part of a 100 Pall- grounded result (SharePoint Online in Microsoft 365)
As a mongrel of both, since utmost large pots have nonpublic data and complex heritage systems/ workflows that they ’ve erected on top of their own on- demesne SP Garçon that they ca n’t resettle to the pall, yet they also use SharePoint Online at the same time-as part of the pall services of O365-due to its integration with MS Forms, MS Flow, Brigades & OD4B, and for its availability and ease of use by the end druggies. This multitude of paradigms generated a lot of confusion, and the bad messaging from Microsoft in 2014 clearly did n’t help (it has been corrected/ addressed since also). Add to that the literacy wind that SharePoint professionals had and continue to have to deal with, especially with the expansion to the pall services of Microsoft 365, the addition of the new SharePoint Framework JavaScript development model (SPFx), and the ever adding integration with Azure Pall services. All of this left the community of SharePoint Admins and inventors, who traditionally came from a system admin or a. Net development background, feeling confused, frustrated and fussing that Microsoft was quietly getting relieve of SharePoint itself. Indeed IT babe and IT directors do n’t know if they should still be looking for. Net/ SharePoint biographies or for Office365/ Full- mound-JavaScript inventors rather, and Farm Admins are doubtful as well as to whether their skill- set still fits with the pall/ mongrel paradigm. So, in short (or as redditors say tl/ dr), SharePoint continues to dominate the request in the foreseeable future, just not as a standalone name brand result, but as a part of the mongrel ecosystem of mobile first “ ready-to- go” results & services. This change has caused a lot of confusion amongst the community of inventors/ admins as well as IT directors & babe. But also again, this isn't a rare circumstance in our assiduity, dealing with fast-paced progress and managing change is just an average Tuesday in the tech world.
